NORTH IOWA TRANSITION CENTER –
CRISIS STABILIZATION CENTER & OFFICES STUDY
& NORTH IOWA COMMUNITY HEALTH CLINIC
Mason City, IA
ATURA was hired to re-purpose an existing 12,600 s.f. facility that was going to house NITC’s administrative offices as well as provide a new crisis stabilization mental health service to the community. The facility included 8 private offices, 8 collaborative office spaces, a training/conference room, 10 short-term resident rooms, and a healthcare exam room. The project received CDBG funding, but due to organizational restructuring, the project never moved forward.
A new organization converged on the property and using the existing design, the North Iowa Community Health Clinic took over the space. A free clinic that offers mental health, general health, and dental resources. Plans were altered to include: 9 medical exam rooms, 9 mental health rooms, 8 dental op. stations, 11 offices, 2 labs, restrooms, and other auxiliary spaces.
