On April 17, 2024, the City of Clear Lake and the North Iowa Cultural Center & Museum broke ground on the Surf Ballroom Music Enrichment & Immersive Center as part of the Surf District revitalization project. The expansion will feature a visitor center, conference space, and a state-of-the-art immersive space, celebrating the Surf Ballroom’s rich musical legacy. Supported by over $35.2 million in grants and private investments, this project marks a key moment in Clear Lake’s cultural and economic development, ensuring the venue’s continued impact on future generations.
